Blackburn boss Mark Hughes admitted he has been "flattered" by reports that Tottenham were interested in bringing him in as their coach. Tottenham have since agreed a deal to bring Juande Ramos to the club.
Spurs are however looking set to name Juande Ramos as the boss as the Spaniard has resigned from Sevilla.
Referring to speculation, Hughes, whose side take on the north London club at the Lane tomorrow, said in the Mirror: "It was flattering. Players have speculation about them moving all the time and that is a reflection on how well they are doing. It's the same for managers.
"My view is that Martin Jol lost his job and that suggested that any appointment was already in place."
