Asier Illarramendi linked with Arsenal switch

Real Sociedad defensive midfielder Asier Illarramendi has been linked with a move to Arsenal this summer. The 23-year-old has attracted the interest of Gunners' scouts over recent months and according to the Daily Mail an offer will be made in the coming weeks.

The Spain under-23 international burst onto the scene in 2010 and has now been a regular first teamer since then. Illarramendi has been with Sociedad since 2002 and from there has progressed his way up the ranks via the reserve team.<br />

Arsenal are eager to find a defensive midfielder as Mikel Arteta has spent time playing in that role in recent months; many Gunners fans are eager for the club to finally find a defensive player as the club failed to purchase a player since Alex Song's departure to Barcelona last year.
