Lyon's midfielder Maxime Gonalons will be staying at the French club. The club captain has no plans to quit the French side despite the long term interest of Italian side Napoli and Arsenal.

  • Arsenal's main targets this summer both seem to be French midfield duo Gonalons and Clement Grenier. But it seems Gonalons is not a player who will be allowed to leave.

"The club would like to remind everyone that it has no intention of allowing its captain to leave, and that it's part of a clearly-defined strategy, that is to continue the sporting development of the club around the best youngsters who have come out of the youth academy, of which Maxime Gonalons is one of the best examples," said Lyon chairman Jean-Michel Aulas.

"OL is not asking for anything [for Gonalons] because he's not for sale."
