Napoli want Luis Suarez

22 June 2013 - 09:57

Liverpool are set to be given a test with a considerable transfer offer for Uruguayan International Luis Suarez as Rafael Benitez identifies the striker as the ideal substitute for Edinson Cavani, who is wanted by Chelsea, Manchester City as well as the La Liga giants Real Madrid.

  • Chelsea to move for former Arsenal goalkeeper?
  • Arsenal handed huge boost ahead of Bournemouth clash

  • Cavani is keen on a move to Real Madrid and former Liverpool manager Benitez wants Suarez to fill the hole which will be left by the Uruguayan. Suarez’s future has been the subject of speculation after insisting that he would like a move away from Anfield.

Meanwhile, Manchester City have bowed out of the fight for Cavani after Napoli announced that the Premier Legue runners up do not have the financial strength to match Cavani’s £54million buy-out clause.

City have made contact with the Serie A club for Cavani and were willing to include player(s) along with the deal but have been unwilling to pay the hefty fee. Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis said, “Manchester City do not have the money to pay for Cavani. They said 'we will never spend €63m on Cavani’.”
