Bundesliga side Hamburg will complete a loan move to sign Swiss international defender Johan Djourou. The centre back will join the club on loan until the end of the season.
A move to Hamburg will beat off the interest of Hannover 96, who signed the defender on loan last season.
“I am sure the transfer will go through” Hamburg's sporting director Oliver Kreuzer confirmed yesterday. “We will definitely know it by Friday.”
Djourou has been told he has no future at the Emirates by manager Arsene Wenger.
