Jordi Amat Moves To Swansea City

28 June 2013 - 15:21

Swansea City have completed the £2.5million signing of Jordi Amat from Espanyol. The Welsh club have confirmed the arrival of the Spanish U21 at the Liberty Stadium, subject to medical and international clearance.

  • Chelsea to move for former Arsenal goalkeeper?
  • Arsenal handed huge boost ahead of Bournemouth clash

  • The contract states a four year deal between Amat and the club. The central defender will join the Capital One Cup winners from Espanyol, although he has spent the last season on loan at Rayo Vallecano, making 27 appearances for the side. He has played for Spain at age-group levels from U16 to U21 and has also twice appeared for Catalonia.

It has been suggested that Amat has long been targeted by Michael Laudrup’s men. He is an addition to the summer signings from the La Liga, following Jose Canas’ free transfer from Real Betis.

Swansea, who also have Spaniards Michu, Angel Rangel, Pablo Hernandez and Canas  in their squad, would feel a lot like home for the 21 year old. The Swansea website read,

"Swansea City have completed the £2.5m signing of central defender Jordi Amat from Espanyol, subject to a medical and international clearance."
