Swansea agree deal for Bafetimbi Gomis

French international striker Bafetimbi Gomis looks set to join Swansea City as the Welsh side agreed terms with his club Lyon. The pacey forward will be offered a four year contract with the League Cup winning side.

  • The 27-year-old had been tipped to leave this week but it appears talks had stalled between Lyon's club president Jean-Michel Aulas and Swansea chairman Huw Jenkins. Discussions are now set to take place this week.

The player, who has just one year left on his Lyon deal, will be sold due to impending financial problems at the French team.

"I had the feeling, and I was even almost sure, we could have convinced Bafe [to leave]," said Aulas.

"The Swansea chairman came to Lyon to sign the deal, and we checked the offer was superior to what Bafe earns at Lyon."
