Swansea City chairman Huw Jenkins claimed that the club is close to acquiring the Ivory Coast international striker Wilfried Bony. Jenkins revealed that Swansea are prepared to make a club-record bid of £13.8 million for the Vitesse striker.
The 24-year-old impressed hugely last season as he scored 31 goals in 30 games in Eredivisie for Vitesse, winning the Dutch Footballer of the Year award, with his team finishing fourth.
Bony’s agent, Francis Kacou, wasn’t very happy with Vitesse’s demands that stalled the deal but the Swansea chairman is hopeful of closing the deal for Bony. He told De Telegraaf:
"As long there's not signed, there's no agreement"
"But it's now up to a few details. We want this finished around [Monday] lunchtime. We're talking about the final deals with his manager, but that won't be a problem.
"He could get his medical in the Netherlands and join the team after that."
Swansea also have a bid accepted by Lyon for striker Bafetimbi Gomis but Jenkins insists that the club would buy only one striker this summer.
"We had a bid accepted for the player [Gomis] but, if we sign Bony, it is unlikely we will sign both”
