Everton Set To Sign Barcelona Younster Deulofeu On A Loan Deal

10 July 2013 - 18:21

Everton are all set to secure their next signing this summer after already having made three in the last week. Reports in Spain are suggesting that the Toffees are nearing a season-long loan deal with Barcelona for their young striker Gerard Deulofeu.

  • Mikel Arteta insists 27yo star won't be leaving Arsenal
  • Omari Hutchinson wants to continue at Ipswich Town

  • Deulofeu, 19, has been part of the Barcelona youth academy, La Masia, since 2003 and has also made several first-team appearances. He has also been capped for Spain Intenational U21’s.

The forward was reportedly keen to experience English football as his place in the Barcelona first-team is still not secure. The other Premier league clubs who were interested in the player were Tottenham and Arsenal, who were willing to sign the 19-year-old on a permanent deal, but it was not acceptable to Barcelona.

Deulofeu scored 18 goals for Barcelona B last season and is a highly valued player in Spain. It appears that Everton have finally clinched the deal, beating the likes of Valencia.
