  • Ashley Williams had an excellent season under Michael Laudrup last season, and his determination in defensive play was one of the attributes to Swansea’s Capital One Cup glory.

The Daily Express suggest that the Gunners manager Arsene wenger is preparing to step up his interest in the Welsh International skipper with a tangible bid.

The main reason for the interest in the player's signature is considered to be the injury of Arsenal Club Captain Thomas Vermaelen, who is deemed unfit to take part in the pre-season tour to Asia with the North London Club.

Wenger is expected to bid for the Swansea skipper soon, as he tries to make the defender his first major signing of the summer.
