The Blues have now turned their interests to their midfield, and their search for a midfielder with a star status has taken them to the Serie A, where they have set their sights on signing of AS Roma's Daniele De Rossi.
According to the reports in the Metro,Chelsea's new manager Jose Mourinho is finally looking to restart his long term admiration in the Italian International by starting with an initial bid of £11.2 million with an option of swapping the star with their young defender Wallace.
Rossi has notched up an extraordinary 418 appearances for his hometown club AS Roma, while inching closer to a century of appearances for the Italian National side. Last season, De Rossi completed 84 percent of his passes, made 2.2 interceptions and had 1.6 tackles per game to add to his more impressive tally of 7 accurate long passes per game.
De Rossi’s addition would give Mourinho the kind of protection his defensive department would need. The sooner they can finish up this deal, the sooner they will be free to look upon other top rated targets.
