Club captain Steven Gerrard will sign a new contract with Liverpool. The player is set to be offered a two year extension to his deal that will see him playing with the Anfield side until 2015.
The 33-year-old has been locked in talks with his club this summer and his impressive fitness at the end of last year appears to have guaranteed the midfielder another extension to his current deal.
The player last signed a contract in January 2012, which added a further year to his deal then. It is understood that Brendan Rodgers sees the midfielder as an important member of the first team for the coming two seasons at least.
