Aston Villa are reportedly interested in making a move for Wigan Athletic winger Shaun Maloney according to the Express.
The Scottish winger had a great season on an individual aspect despite of Wigan Athletic's relegation to the Championship notching up 7goals and providing 10 assists for the Latics and the 30-year-old looks set to join his former club if the offer goes through.
Maloney previous had an 18 month stint at Villa Park which was sandwiched between two spells at Celtic and Villa boss Lambert seems willing to bring in the talented wide-man to boost his side's attack force.
Lambert has seen Christian Benteke make a formal transfer request , but he would be more than eager to keep hold of his Belgian star as he tries to pair him with Maloney in the attack.
