Former Manchester United striker Andrew Cole believes that Wayne Rooney is not going anywhere this summer. The 41-year-old said that if Rooney left the club, it would be a big loss for the Old Trafford, so he expects him to stay.
Rooney’s dissatisfaction with the club had surfaced last season, following which it was hugely speculated that the striker is looking for opportunities elsewhere.
However, after the former Everton boss, David Moyes, took the baton from Sir Alex Ferguson, it was believed that Rooney could reconcile with the club. Moyes has been repetitively saying that the 27-year-old is not for sale.
"Everyone wants him to stay. He's a wonderful player. If you lose a quality player like that you're going to be disappointed," Cole said.
"I do believe he's going to stay at Manchester United which is the most important thing."
He is also hopeful that David Moyes would do well at the Old Trafford, despite tremendous burden of expectations from him.
"Manchester United gave David Moyes a six-year contract so they believe in him. Naturally they're going to give him time.
"We want it to continue, naturally, but everyone wants to win the big prizes. We know we're going to find it tough but I think David Moyes will do a very good job.”
