Napoli To Rival Arsenal For Gonzalo Higuain

16 July 2013 - 19:07

The affluent Serie A side, Napoli, are reportedly all set to rival Premier League club Arsenal for the sign of Real Madrid’s hitman Gonzalo Higuain.

 • Chelsea manager on Reece James before Man Utd game
 • Chelsea want to sign Bournemouth midfielder
 • Napoli have enough funds generated by the sale of Edinson Cavani to the cash-rich Paris Saint-Germain. They seemingly intend to spend most of the received transfer money on purchasing new players this summer.
Napoli have fiercely targeted the La Liga giants, Real Madrid, as they look to lure Higuain to the club as a replacement for Cavani. Other than the Argentine international, the Serie A outfit is also understood to be really close to acquiring another Madrid player Raul Albiol.
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger was very keen on signing the Madrid star but he is not ready to meet his asking price of nearly €30m. He values the player at €20m, whereas the Italian club is reportedly ready to pay this amount.
It has also been reported that the Napoli president, Aurelio De Laurentiis, is willing to pay the former River Plate forward a weekly wage of around €70,000.
