Thiago Alcantara, who recently snubbed Manchester United to join the Bundesliga champions, Bayern Munich, revealed today the reason behind his decision. He explained the influence of Guardiola, his former boss at the Camp Nou, in shaping his decision.

The Spanish wonderkid was believed to be David Moyes&rsquo; summer&rsquo;s top transfer target but Bayern swooped in to seize his signature for a reported fee of 20million Euros.<br />

Alcantara praised the efforts of Pep Guardiola in shaping his career and he said that the newly appointed manager at Bayern Munich had a great role to play in luring him to Bundesliga, instead of the Premier League.<br />

"I played under him in the (Barcelona) youth team and I've got him to thank for everything that I have achieved so far," he said in Munich.<br />

"I never had a coach like him. He's unique.<br />

"After the European Under-21 Championship, I spoke with Guardiola on the phone and, after that, I decided to come to Bayern.<br />

"I discussed last season and the upcoming season with the club. I wanted a new challenge.&rdquo;
