Alvaro Negredo To Move To Manchester City

17 July 2013 - 19:34

The Spanish outfit, Sevilla, have confirmed that star striker Alvaro Negredo will bid farewell to the club. Negredo will now move to the Etihad Stadium, subject to a medical.

  • Chelsea suffer double injury blow ahead of Villa trip
  • Gabriel Magalhaes to sign new Arsenal deal

  • Sevilla have confirmed the deal on their official website. The clubs have agreed on a €25million plus add-ons deal for the striker.

Del Nido revealed his happiness for the player and claimed the deal to be one of the most significant ones in the history of the club.

“We are about to close on the sale of the player and, if everything goes normally and everything is signed, he will soon say goodbye”, he said.

“Manchester City are buying a great player, the top-scoring Spaniard in La Liga.”

    The club’s official website read:

"It's official: Alvaro Negredo is a Manchester City player, short of doing the medical tests”

"Sevilla has organised a farewell gathering for the player at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan this evening at 18.30BST, so that those who have been his team-mates can say goodbye before leaving for (the pre-season tour of) South America.

"The Sevilla president, Jose Maria del Nido, will accompany the striker at this farewell."

The 27-year-old was brilliant in the La Liga last season, having scored 25 goals. He was strongly linked with moves to Everton and Tottenham.

But as it turns out, Negredo will be the second player to complete a transfer from Sevilla to Manchester City after Jesus Navas. The striker will also receive an increased weekly wage of €75,000.
