Benteke signs new Aston Villa deal

Christian Benteke has decided to stay at Aston Villa. The Belgian forward had been linked with a move to Tottenham but instead decided to sign a new contract with Paul Lambert's side until 2017.

According to reports, Benteke handed in a written transfer request to Villa last month and asked for a transfer away from the Villans.<br />

Since then, though, the player returned back from his summer vacation yesterday and after just two hours of discussions the player put pen to paper on a fresh deal.<br />

Darren Bent is expected to now be sold by Villa, with Newcastle his likely destination.
