John Terry's Place Is Not Secure At Chelsea, Says Mourinho

20 July 2013 - 20:19

Jose Mourinho, who joined Chelsea as a manager for a second spell, insists John Terry must prove himself worthy for a position in the first-team. He said that Terry must fight for a place like everyone else and must not consider his place in the team for granted.

  • "He's not safe, and he knows he's not safe. The only thing he knows is safe is our friendship, but professionally, nobody's safe”, said Mourinho.

"I know he's a very good player, but he must prove himself like everyone else."

The Portuguese believes that John Terry must put in efforts to stay away from injuries as that could hinder his growth.

"His class is there. His position is there. From a physical point of view, he needs to work hard and not have injuries because injuries break the evolution of the player. For me, that's the key point for John."

‘The Special One’ also feels that he can help Fernando Torres get out of his bad run at the Stamford Bridge.

"I think I know the best way for a team to play to try to get the best out of him, so I will try to help him, the same way I try to help other people."
