Liverpool Keen To Sign A Left-Back

22 July 2013 - 19:11

Liverpool manager Brendon Rodgers has admitted that his side is looking for a left-back this transfer season. Rodgers said that he is keen to bring aboard a quality player in that position to provide cover for first-choice left-back Jose Enrique.

  • Arsenal want to make four marquee signings this summer

  • It has been reported in Spain that the manager is planning to make a move for Valencia’s Aly Cissokho on a season long deal for the aforementioned position. Rodgers tested Glen Johnson and Andre Wisdom in the position last season but it was Enrique who impressed in the second half of the campaign.

"There are obviously certain areas of the squad where we're a bit thinner than others," he said.

"We probably need a bit more support - that extra bit of quality - at the top end of the field and that's something we'll look out for.

"That'll be mixed with needing cover in the left-back position - that's something we're looking at. It's not really about numbers, it's about quality.

"If we can do that over the next number of weeks we'll be happy."
