Serie A side AS Roma have announced the signing of veteran Italian goalkeeper on a two year contract from Napoli.

  • The 36 year old custodian has been at Napoli for the past four years but, with the arrival of Liverpool shot stopper Jose Reina, has now been allowed to find a new club. The Naples club are expected to soon unveil the Spain international as their new number one after signing him on a year long loan deal.

The club's official website declared that Napoli have received a sum of €500,000 for the transfer of De Sanctis.

Roma were in search of a new goalkeeper following the departure of Dutchman Maarten Sketelenburg to Fulham earlier last month.

De Sanctis told La Repubblica Sport: "It's all agreed. I'm here to work hard and to have a great season."
