Newcastle make official loan offer for Loic Remy

27 July 2013 - 13:01

Newcastle have made an approach to sign French international striker Loic Remy on a season long loan. Remy, who currently plays for Championship side QPR, is patiently waiting for his representatives to agree a deal with a Premier League side.

  • Chelsea expected to sell striker after loan deal
  • Arsenal defender misses training ahead of Man Utd game

  • Remy, who joined Queens Park Rangers back in January from French side Marseille, has told his manager Harry Redknapp that he has no plans to stay at Loftus Road for the new campaign as he feels that in a World Cup year he must be playing top flight football. Therefore, Newcastle have made a loan offer for the striker and will pay a small fee for the year long period. The Toon Army will pay the player's salary for the duration of the loan spell.

West Ham were believed to winning the race to sign Remy but the Hammers have now decided to move for Salomon Kalou of Lille instead; a signing that would partner Andy Carroll with the Ivorian former Chelsea player.

Newcastle expect to wrap up a deal by the 7th of August, at the very latest, otherwise they will switch their attentions to signing another striker instead.

The Magpies are also expected to seal a move for Lyon forward Bafetimbi Gomis this summer.
