Southampton scouting Pablo Andres Gonzalez

27 July 2013 - 14:04

Southampton manager Mauricio Pochettino is set to use his Argentinian influence to secure the signing of Novara striker Pablo Andres Gonzalez. The 28-year-old forward has been linked with a move to St. Mary's this summer for a 2.3 million Euro fee.

  • Gonzalez joined Novara last year from Serie A side Palermo and impressed in his first year at the Serie B club, despite the fact Novara couldn't secure promotion. He finished as the most creative midfielder in Serie B with 20 assists and a further 14 goals.

The Argentina born 28-year-old has an Italian passport and so should not have any issues securing a work permit to play in the Premier League.

It is understood that Novara have also received some enquiries from newly promoted side Livorno as well as Siena.
