Arsenal Star Santi Cazorla Has Played Down Reports Linking Him To Atletico Madrid

28 July 2013 - 14:17

Arsenal man Santi Cazorla has ruled down the speculations linking him with a move to Atletico Madrid. Although the Spanish team’s coach Diego Simeone has not denied the fact that his side were keen on signing the midfielder.

  • Mauricio Pochettino confirms fresh injury blow for Chelsea star
  • Arsenal want to make four marquee signings this summer

  • Cazorla claimed that he is happy at the Emirates and does not intend to make an exit from the club anytime soon.

He said: "There has been a lot of speculation about a move to Atletico Madrid but I'm very happy at Arsenal, I have a contract there and I start training on Monday.

"Perhaps I will return to Spain one day, but right now it's very unlikely."

Atletico have had a busy summer so far as they wrapped up the deals for David Villa from Barcelona and Leo Baptistao from Rayo Vallecano.

Cazorla joined Arsenal from Malaga in a £15m deal last summer. He expressed his happiness for his compatriot David Villa, who had a difficult year with Barcelona due to his injuries. The Arsenal star is focussed on the upcoming World Cup as he is determined to make an impact next year.

"I still have unfinished business in the World Cup after missing the last one because of my back.

"I really want to experience a World Cup, so I have to have a great year with Arsenal. I hope this year is even better than the last."
