Gundogan's father wants him to stay at Dortmund

29 July 2013 - 17:45

Borussia Dortmund playmaker Ilkay Gundogan's father has expressed his desire to ensure his son pens a new deal with the Bundesliga club.

  • Predicted Man Utd line-up (4-2-3-1) vs Crystal Palace, Evans starts
  • Mikel Arteta insists 27yo star won't be leaving Arsenal

  • The current contract that Gundogan has with the Champions League runners up ends in 2015 and Irfan Gundogan, father and agent to Ilkay, is keen to secure a new deal for his son.

The 22 year old has been linked with Manchester United this summer as a possible alternative target for David Moyes should he fail to sign Cesc Fabregas from Barcelona.

"I am keen to ensure he (Ilkay) remains with Borussia Dortmund," Irfan told Kicker Sportmagazin.

"He is doing fine so it's a bit early to move to a club in England or Spain at this point in time.

"Borussia Dortmund will be coming up with an offer of a new contract soon. We will be able to oversee things much better then."

BVB sporting directot Michael Zorc has also confirmed that the club are interested and working towards a new deal for the talented midfielder.
