Maseille waiting on Barton response

01 August 2013 - 12:02

Ligue 1 side Olympique Marseille have already made an offer to QPR midfielder Joey Barton and are waiting for a response according to the club's sporting director.

 • Enzo Fernandez wants to leave Chelsea
 • Man Utd set to hold contract talks with experienced star
 • The 30 year old midfielder spent the entire last season with Marseille helping them to second place finish in Ligue 1.
However, he has got two more years left on his current contract with Queens Park Rangers and Marseille are waiting on him to mutually terminate his contract with Rangers.
The player's agent Willy Mackay has admitted that Barton's wage demands has proved to be a stumbling block for Marseille but with Everton's reported interest, the eccentric midfielder is willing to take a pay cut to push through a move to Goodison Park.
"Everton? I didn't know anything," said sporting director Jose Anigo. "But it is possible his agent, who works in the English market, could have contact with Everton.
"We have been very clear with Joey. It is up to him to make the decision."
