02 August 2013 - 00:20

Stoke City are preparing to make a £5million bid for Hamburg striker Artjoms Rudnevs, according to reports from the Daily Mail. The Latvian forward has been set as the number one target by Potters' manager Mark Hughes.

  • £47m star to undergo Chelsea medical on Friday
  • Chelsea make first move to sign French centre-back
  • Hughes was hopeful of signing Nelson Oliviera from Primeira Liga outfit Benfica on loan this summer, but the player snubbed the Premier League side for a move to the French Ligue 1 with Rennes.

Hughes was clearly not pleased by the decision of the Portuguese International, he told The Sun:  “We thought it would be a footballing decision”

“It seems to have been more about the money involved. That happens, I’m afraid, and you have to take it on the chin and move on.”

As per reports,Bundesliga based outfit Hamburg are willing to sell their Latvian star for a fee in the region of  £5m in order to add up funds to plot a move for Everton forward Nikica Jelavic.
