Gomis Deal Delayed

04 August 2013 - 15:50

Bafetimbi Gomis’ transfer to Newcastle United could take another week to be completed. Olympique Lyonnais president Jean-Michel Aulas revealed that the striker will have to wait for another eight days to seal a move to United.

  • Mikel Arteta insists 27yo star won't be leaving Arsenal
  • Omari Hutchinson wants to continue at Ipswich Town

  • The clubs have agreed on a transfer fee of around €10.3 million and Gomis has also agreed personal terms with Newcastle but the president said that the 28-year-old ‘s switch to United is not possible for another 8 days.

Aulas didn’t reveal the exact reasons for the delay, only saying that some minor issues could cause the stall.

"We have accepted Newcastle's conditions and Gomis has accepted theirs too. It could still go haywire. There are minor issues which could cause problems. Either way, the deal won't be done for another eight days probably."

The president had earlier expressed doubts regarding the issues pertaining to the agents’ fee, saying:

“The agreement is now linked to the acceptance of agents' fees. I understand that the problem is in the amount and manner of payment of commissions.

"There are several people involved in the operation, which complicates the negotiations, but I am hopeful that things will be resolved within 24 or 48 hours."
