Portuguese outfit Porto expects to retain striker Jackson Martinez, who has been strongly linked with a move to Napoli. The club’s head coach Paulo Fonseca is confident that the Colombia international will choose to stay back this summer.
Jackson Martinez has been heavily linked with a move away from Porto after a series of impressive performances last season. He managed to net 29 goals in 38 appearances in all competitions for his current owners.
Rafa Benitez’s side have shown some interest in the Colombian and are currently leading the race for him but Fonseca is confident to keep the 26-year-old at Estado Dragao for another season.
"We are never ready to lose great players like Jackson Martinez," Fonseca said after Porto's 1-0 defeat to Galatasaray in the Emirates Cup on Saturday.
"But it seems it is not going to happen now, he will stay here, this is what I believe anyway.
"If it does happen, Porto always responds very well when great players leave the club. Only recently we lost Joao Moutinho and James Rodriguez but Porto will remain a strong team with good players."
