Liverpool target Diego Costa happy to stay at Atletico Madrid

Atletico Madrid forward Diego Costa has insisted that he is happy to stay at the La Liga outfit despite reported interest from Liverpool. The Reds had made a bid of £21.8m for the striker last week, a transfer fee that was thought to trigger a release clause in the player's contract. <br /><br />However, the 24-year-old striker admitted that he has heard nothing about the potential switch to Anfield and wants to stay at the Spanish giants.

  • Costa was quoted saying in AS : "I'm well here, I'm happy here.<br /><br />"As I've been in Argentina and Uruguay I've not heard anything about this. I'm happy here, if the club want me to be here, I'm going to be here.<br /><br />"I think that the coach [Diego Simeone] counts on all of us, not just me. He knows how important it is to maintain the squad, the fans know it as well."<br /><br />
