Despite the interest of Barcelona, Brazilian centre back David Luiz will not be sold this summer. Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho and club owner Roman Abramovich are both big fans of the defender and have indicated that he will not be sold for any price.

  • Last week, further reports from Spain indicated that Barcelona will be making a £45 million offer for the centre back, but Jose Mourinho is eager to hang on to the 26-year-old who starred at this summer's Confederations Cup for Brazil.

According to reports, Barcelona have decided that David Luiz is the perfect replacement for Carles Puyol, who is reportedly considering retirement at the end of this coming season.

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho yesterday praised Luiz: "David has come back with us fantastically and we have to use his quality."
