Leandro Damiao's move to Napoli cancelled

06 August 2013 - 19:30

Brazilian striker Leandro Damiao's proposed move from Internacional to Napoli has been called off at the last minute. Napoli signed Gonzalo Higuain and had hoped to partner him with Damiao.

 • Man Utd expecting €80m boost with double player sale
 • Predicted Arsenal line-up (4-2-3-1) vs Bayer Leverkusen, Gyokeres starts
 • However, it is understood that Napoli have decided to pursue other targets after already signing Argentine forward Gonzalo Higuain.
Damiao has long been linked with a move to Tottenham, who have themselves turned to another target after signing Roberto Soldado.
"There were negotiations with Napoli, but the inherent difficulties tied in to sponsorship contracts and image rights made it impossible to reach a deal with Aurelio De Laurentiis," said Damiao's agent Vinicius Prates
"The club preferred to sign Higuain, so now Damiao is working hard with Internacional while he waits for a great proposal from Europe."
