West Ham table £6 million Downing offer

10 August 2013 - 08:24

Liverpool winger Stewart Downing will travel to London for talks with West Ham next week after the Anfield side received a £6 million bid from the Hammers. The winger's Liverpool future has remained uncertain since Brendan Rodgers told the player he is not part of his first team plans six months ago.

 • According to the Independent, the Hammers have already bid £5 million and Liverpool are hoping to negotiate with West Ham for around £6 million.
Hammers' manager Sam Allardyce has already made a series of major acquisitions in this summer's transfer window but is still missing a new winger. Downing had been told he could leave Liverpool for £8 million last January, but the Hammers have reduced the asking price to a reported £6 million.
The 29-year-old, who is currently in Ireland on tour with Liverpool, has reportedly already started looking for properties in London ahead of a transfer move.
