Keane expects Jones interest

Keane expects Jones interest

05 November 2007 - 22:43

Sunderland boss Roy Keane is expecting several clubs to come knocking on the door for £6m summer signing Kenwyne Jones. The player joined during the summer from Southampton and has been a revelation.

  • Fabrizio Romano updates on Nicolas Jackson's future at Chelsea
  • Arsenal suffer big injury blow ahead of Fulham game
  • The player has been particularly impressive in the Premiership, sparking speculations that several clubs including the likes of Liverpool are watching the Trinidad & Tobago international.

However the Black Cats boss is not showing any interest in letting go his powerful striker.

"Kenwyne is a big player for us and has taken on the responsibility like a true man," said Keane.

"He's made a lot of progress in a short period of time. If he continues in the form he's in I would expect some calls when the transfer window opens.

"There are not that many big targetmen out there and the fact he's also quick, has a good touch and is scoring goals makes it obvious that people will identify him.

"He's quickly become a marked man but it's one thing spotting his threat - but quite another stopping him."
