11 August 2013 - 18:09

Manchester United manager David Moyes has reaffirmed that striker Wayne Rooney is not leaving the club this summer.

  • Arsenal leading race to sign Belgian midfielder

  • The new United boss denied rumors suggesting that there has been a rift between him and the former Everton forward and maintained his initial stance on the player's transfer status.

It has been widely reported that Wayne Rooney is discontent with his life at Old Trafford and has been eyeing a move to Chelsea so as to guarantee more starts.

However, Moyes has brushed aside all speculation linking him to the Blues much to the joy of the fans.

"We don't want to sell Wayne," Moyes responded when he was quizzed about why Rooney was training with the reserves.

"I have not fallen out with Wayne and the reason he trained with the reserves was because he wanted to because he wasn't allowed any contact."

The Scot added that the club are still in the look out for new players this summer but is happy with to kickstart the season with the current squad.

He continued: "I hope so, we move on every day and the transfer window gets closer and closer. But if we have to start the season with what we've got then I'll be happy."
