Joleon Lescott hopes for new Man City deal

16 August 2013 - 09:39

Man City defender Joleon Lescott is to focus on the coming season under new manager Manuel Pellegrini as he is hoping to sign a new contract at the Etihad Stadium. In pre-season, Lescott has been given many opportunities to impress his new manager.

  • Chelsea set to sign Crystal Palace star for £47m
  • Man Utd aiming to beat Liverpool to 25yo midfielder
  • Since arriving from Everton, Lescott has gone on to strike up an important defensive partnership with Vincent Kompany at the heart of Man City's defence; however, it is understood Pellegrini is still trying to sign Real Madrid defender Pepe.

Lescott though is focused on the coming season and hopes to extend his stay at the club: "If he (Manuel Pellegrini) does call upon me then I'd like to say I'd give 100 per cent and do his decision justice.

"I'm in the last year of my contract now so I've got to get my head down and try and earn a new one here and remain here.

"It's nice to be a part of this club and it's nice to know that I came at the start when the club were in transition and as they started winning things.

"My ambitions don't change but now I'm fully focused on being selected for Man City and then hopefully I can get back into the England squad for the World Cup qualifiers."
