  • The talented shot stopper who is currently the club's vice-captain, was associated with a switch to La Liga champions Barcelona earlier this summer.

According to the report, the Gunners officials will fly off to Spain this week to discuss terms for the 26-year-old with the La Liga outfit, who won their opening league fixture against Malaga with a 1-0 scoreline at the weekend.

Earlier, Valencia President Amadeo Salva had claimed that Guaita would only be allowed to move if he requested a transfer.

"It will have to be he who says he doesn't want to stay at Valencia [because] we don't want to sell him and we will protect the interests of our club," he said.

"If he wants to leave, he will have to say so. We want him to renew his contract, but it is up to him whether he accepts or rejects our offer. Nobody has told me anything about Arsenal, but if anyone wants to sign him his clause is €30m."

It is speculated across the English Capital that the Gunners are looking for a new shot stopper this summer having seen many irregular performances from the current number one Wojciech Szczesny.
