Omer Toprak on Arsenal's shortlist

22 August 2013 - 15:30

Arsenal scouts have been monitoring Bayer Leverkusen's defender Omer Toprak in action and could make a surprise transfer move for the Turkish international defender. Toprak, who was born in Germany and has played in the country for his entire career, has attracted the interest of Gunners scouts after a series of impressive performances in the Bundesliga.

  • Chelsea midfielder looking forward to London derby vs Spurs
  • Arsenal in the front row to sign Dutch striker

  • The 24-year-old defender, who previously played for Freiburg before Leverkusen, is considered one of the club's most important players by the team's manager Sami Hyppia. However, Arsenal are ready to spend some of their budget on his signing amidst some concerns about the fitness of Thomas Vermaelen and another injury to Lorient Koscielny yesterday.

The 6 foot 1 defender would command a fee of around 6.2 million Euros.
