Newcastle and Fulham make Phil Bardsley enquiries

25 August 2013 - 05:30

Sunderland have received enquiries from both Fulham and Newcastle for defender Phil Bardsley. The player has been indefinitely suspended by Paolo Di Canio at the Stadium of Light.

 • Chelsea make first move to sign Xabi Alonso
 • Chelsea ready new contract for star midfielder
 • A number of disciplinary problems have meant that Bardsley's future at Sunderland remains in some doubt and Di Canio is hoping to offload the full back before the end of the transfer window.
Whilst Sunderland value Bardsley at around £2m, reports suggest that the Black Cats would accept an offer of as little as £1 million for the player.
Fulham manager Martin Jol is looking to bring in cover for his defence whilst Newcastle's current first choice right back Davide Santon has also battled with injuries last season, leaving Alan Pardew and Newcastle's director of football Joe Kinnear busy trying to find a new full back.
