Tottenham enter race for Juan Mata's signature

27 August 2013 - 06:56

Tottenham are the latest team to have been linked with a move for Chelsea midfielder Juan Mata. According to reports, the Spanish attacking midfielder has been told he is free to leave Stamford Bridge.

 • Fabrizio Romano updates on Nicolas Jackson's future at Chelsea
 • Arsenal suffer big injury blow ahead of Fulham game
 • Atletico Madrid were linked with a move for Mata in recent weeks and Manchester United were also believed to have made an offer to the Blues for the Spain international.
The highly rated player has slipped down the pecking order at Chelsea and with the transfer of Willian set to be announced today, there remains some uncertainty about the long term future of Mata at the club.
Mata is one of the Premier League's most feared playmakers but it appears Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho remains unconvinced that the Spaniard is the right man to drive the club forward this year. Andre Schurrle has also been brought in this year, meaning that Mata is reconsidering his long term future at the Blues.
