Elmander scores twice as Norwich thrash Bury

Sweden striker Johan Elmander scored twice on his first start for his new club Norwich City, as the Canaries thrashed Bury 6-3 in their Capital One Cup encounter.

  • Fellow Sweden international Martin Olsson opened the scoring on 23 minutes with a powerful strike, followed by a drilled shot by team-mate Anthony Pilkington on 32 minutes to end the first half 2-0 up against the League two side.



    Elmander opened his account with his new club on 52 minutes, followed by Blackburn Rovers' on loan midfielder Anton Forrester's shot on 72 minutes. The final 18 minutes saw a thrilling 6 goals divided between both sides.



    Elmander scored his second on 75 minutes after a Robert Snodgrass cross, followed by William Edjenguele's goal for Bury on 79 minutes. Leroy Fer and Steven Whittaker completed the rout for Norwich before Jessy Reindorf's magnificent strike completed the spectacle.



    Norwich City's record signing Ricky Van Wolfswinkel didn't feature, as did goalkeeper John Ruddy who was included earlier in England's squad for the World Cup qualifying fixtures against Moldova and Ukraine next week.
