Barcelona playmaker Cesc Fabregas has confirmed that he never considered leaving the club during the summer and rubbished claims that he wanted to join Premier League champions Manchester United.

  • The 26 year old was the subject of intense interest from Manchester United but they had both their bids rejected by the Catalan giants. It was reported that the Spain international was considering a move back to England as he was unsure of the first team opportunities he would have at Camp Nou under new manager Gerardo Martino.

In an exclusive interview to TVE show Esport Club he insisted that staying at Barcelona has always been his dream.

"I have never said that I could go, nor have I talked to the president or the coach about it," he told TVE show Esport Club.

"What I don't know is how this can be said to be true just because some journalist wrote it on Twitter.

"My dream is to stay here and succeed."

He added: "I have a great desire to achieve even more and I am committed to this club and proud to be here."
