Tottenham seal the deal for Erik Lamela

28 August 2013 - 18:31

Tottenham Hotspurs have agreed a deal with Serie A side Roma for the transfer of Argentina international Erik Lamela for €30 million.

  • Arsenal to swap Gabriel Jesus for Inter Milan star?
  • Arsenal leading race to sign Belgian midfielder

  • The 21 year old was tipped to join the Premier League side this summer and become Spurs' fifth new signing this season. The north London club have already broken their club transfer record twice this summer having signed Valencia forward Roberto Soldado earlier.

The former Roma winger is believed to be the replacement for Gareth Bale who seems to be on the verge of joining La Liga giants Real Madrid in the final days of the transfer window.

Roma published a statement on their website which read: "Roma announce they have signed a contract with Tottenham for the outright sale of the playing rights of Erik Lamela, in exchange for 30m euros.

"The agreement also includes the obligation to pay 5m euros in bonuses related to the achievements of the player and the English club."

Roma have already brought in a replacement for Lamela by signing wataway Fiorentina midfielder Adem Ljajic for €11 million.
