Gareth Barry awaits Everton transfer bid

Gareth Barry awaits Everton transfer bid

30 August 2013 - 08:01

Gareth Barry is hopeful that a deal can be agreed between Everton and Manchester City before the transfer window closes next week. The midfielder remains a target for the Toffees, with manager Roberto Martinez already in contact with Man City representatives.

  • Chelsea to move for former Arsenal goalkeeper?
  • Former Chelsea boss to replace Erik ten Hag at Man Utd?

  • Barry has slipped down the pecking order this season and has been told that he is free to leave the Etihad Stadium should a team either offer to pay his entire salary for the duration of a loan spell or if a team matches the reported £2 million asking price City will let the player leave.

Arsenal were amongst the teams interested in Barry earlier in the transfer window but have since plumped for Mathieu Flamini, who returned to Arsenal yesterday evening.

Martinez is hopeful that a deal can be agreed for Barry by Monday afternoon.
