West Ham Uniteds Alou Diarra set to miss the rest of the season

West Ham United's Alou Diarra set to miss the rest of the season

30 August 2013 - 13:42

West Ham midfielder Alou Diarra is set to spend the rest of the season on the sidelines due to a cruciate knee ligament injury.

The French International was conflicted with the injury during his side's 2-1 victory over Cheltenham Town in the Capital One Cup, and the Hammers boss Sam Allardyce has confirmed that he could miss the rest of the Premier League season.

The Hammers manager told reporters: "The injury is more serious than we expected and it is an ACL [anterior cruciate ligament] reconstruction unfortunately.

"That will probably finish his season and that is a big blow to us in squad terms. He was hoping to forge his way into the side this season but, obviously with the injury, now that wont be the case."
