Pellegrini wants another defender at Manchester City

31 August 2013 - 17:46

Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini insists that he needs to add another defender to his squad after seeing another unimpressive defensive performance by his side in today's 2-0 win over Hull City.

  • Former Chelsea boss to replace Erik ten Hag at Man Utd?
  • Chelsea to move for former Arsenal goalkeeper?

  • The City defense looked shaky in the first half and could have fallen behind had it not been for some poor finishing by Hull strikers. Jolean Lescott and Aleksandr Kolarov were particularly at fault for letting Hull strikers find a lot of space to operate in.

City have been rumored to be interested in Atletico defender Martin Demichelis and Pellegrini admitted that he is hopeful of tying up a deal for the Argentine.

Pellegrini said: "I expect it (some business). I hope for one defender. Maybe that is the name we want. We will see what happens."

"First of all, the most important (thing) is the points.

"In our friendly matches in pre-season we tried to work on different things, but when we start the Premier League the most important thing is to win the three points.

"I am very happy with the win but of course I think we must improve. We had too many difficulties in the first half (in creating chances) to shoot at the Hull goal."
