Gareth Barry has completed his switch to Everton from Manchester City on a season-long loan deal.<br /><br />The England International fell out of favour at the Etihad Stadium, following manager Manuel Pellegrini's preference of using new signing Fernandinho to partner Yaya Toure in midfield this season.

Everton manager Roberto Martinez was keen to add a talented player to his midfield department after the departure of Marouane Fellaini to join Manchester United late on the transfer deadline day.<br /><br />The deal was not conclusive until the last minute as Manchester City wanted to sell Barry, rather than allow him to leave on loan, but a deal was in place before the deadline had expired.
