Villarreal have beaten a host of clubs to the signature of Giuseppe Rossi. Rossi has been signed as one of the replacements for Diego Forlan who recently signed for La Liga rivals Atletico Madrid.

Rossi had been expected to go back to his homeland and a host of clubs were chasing him including Parma, Udinese, Fiorentina and Napoli. However, Rossi earlier stated that he did not want to go back to Italy yet and has joined Villarreal to help advance his career.
