01 October 2013 - 13:42

Napoli striker Gonzalo Higuain has admitted that he was "honoured" by the Gunners interest in signing him during the summer transfer window.

  • Chelsea beat Inter Milan to sign £47m Italian star
  • Tottenham finally agree terms with Man Utd target
  • The North London club came close to sealing a deal to land the former Real Madrid forward, before he opted to join Serie A giants Napoli.

The talented Argentine International is reportedly set to miss out on facing the Gunners on Tuesday night in the Champions League group stage fixture with a leg injury.

He told Gazzetta dello Sport: "I was honoured by Arsenal's interest, I have great respect for (Arsene) Wenger and the idea to be in his plans filled me with pride.

"But I think my decision to come to Napoli was the best, I'm really happy with this choice."
