Gazidis confirms plans for new striker

Gazidis confirms plans for new striker

09 November 2013 - 16:03

Arsenal chief executive Ivan Gazidis has confirmed that the club are planning to sign a new striker this January as they look to pose a serious challenge for the Premier League title.

  • Chelsea ready to sell four home-grown players
  • Predicted Chelsea line-up (4-2-3-1) vs Aston Villa, Palmer starts

  • The north Londoners have started the new season in exciting fashion and find themselves in the top of the league table. However, Olivier Giroud remains their only in form striker with Lukas Podolski still out injured.

Gazidis believes that a new striker has become a priority as the team is now overly dependent on Giroud's form.

"We will see where Arsenal will be in January and whether or not the club will invest in another forward," he told L'Equipe newspaper.

"Olivier Giroud won't be able to go on all alone until the end of the season. We need to buy."
